The ACE body engineering was put into this 3rd-gen Odyssey model and it was also put into manufacturing for the 8th-gen Civic. For this Odyssey, Side-curtain airbags and electronic stability control are included in all models of which were not available before.

Integrated sunshades in the rear doors and roll down windows in the second row were added features. The previous 3rd row 'Magic Seat' was changed out for a straight seat bench to allow for different  folding configurations. The headrests can now be left in place when folding the rear seat.

A very notable feature is the in-floor "lazy-susan storage compartment", previously located in the spare tire well.

3rd-gen Odyssey offeres a dashboard-mounted shifter, not the column mounted shifter found in older models.

The Odyssey engine horse power was increased to 255.  The models EX-L and Touring got the new Variable Cylinder Management system (VCM), which enabled fuel economy ratings up to 28 mpg for the 2005 year.

The top-of-the-line package in the 3rd-gen Honda Odyssey lineup presents features like run-flat tires, power adjustable gas & brake pedals, powered tailgate, expanded multi-info display, chrome tailgate trim and front seats that remember their position settings.

Run-flat-Pax tires which have been designed to run up to 125 miles with no air pressure only came with the touring models. Run-flat-Pax tires are made up with different rim diameters on the inside of the wheel compared to the outside of the wheel. A special very hard support ring is mounted on the proprietary Pax wheel with a gel lubricant and the wheel. When the tire goes flat, Run-flat-Pax tires runs on the hard inner support ring which lubricated by special gel to reduce friction and heat. There are other Odyssey Touring tire to choose from for 2005–2007 despite being on the market since late 2004. The only alternative is to change out the Pax Wheels with standard tires. Pax tires failed in the marketplace Due to short life, availability, high prices and uncommon service requirements and no other choices for tires, Pax tires never became popular.
